Green Efforts & Accomplishments

Irwin Contracting Inc. seeks project opportunities which incorporate Green methods for energy efficiency and environmental preservation.

We are a member of the U.S. Green Building Council and have also partnered with the Energy Star Program. Some of our Energy Star Qualified projects include work for Concern for Independent Living & Economic Opportunity Council of Suffolk.

Irwin Contracting has employed project managers who have completed course work in LEED certification and HERS Rating.

Currently, Irwin Contracting Inc. is constructing a LEED compliant building for the Dormitory Authority of New York State. This two story institutional building is intended to be LEED compliant with a minimum of 28 points. Our project managers carefully selected environmentally responsible products and materials to be used on-site. These include regionally manufactured, harvested and/or recovered items as well as materials with low emitting VOC content and percentages of recycled content.

Our Green efforts do not stop at the construction sites... they continue internally within our company headquarters with each of our team members. Our company-wide policies and daily operations such as recycling waste and investing in reusable mugs make every effort to protect our environment.

In addition, we have purchased our first Hybrid company vehicle.
